New photo posting January 2013

"I recently came across your web blog and was pleasantly surprised to see the story and pictures of the Berryville school reunion. I was a student (Bill Wilson) from 1952 (Mrs Hastings) to 1959 (Mrs Malloy 7th grade). Both my brother (Ken Wilson 1957) and Kay Wilson (1955) were graduates. I would have been represented in the picture of Mrs Paulsons (who I had in the 6th grade), 1961 8th grade graduating class had I not relocated in 1959/60. I recognize many of the names identified but I'm a little short on faces. The only name I can add in this picture is who I believe is John Mutchler 3rd row center (small with glasses)

I'm attaching a picture of Mrs. Jenson's 1955 3rd grade classroom. I'm seated against the bulletin board 2nd desk with a red checkard shirt. I believe the small girl in the foreground is Sandra Gerber and the boy 3rd row back black shirt is Donnie Smith. Possibly Bobby Appleby behind him and Wayne Bose 3rd row front. It could be Luanne Leonard front row next to Sandra but not sure. Maybe some one else can correctly identify. My brother, sister and I have lots of memories and would love to share with anyone who might remember us. This is the 8th Grade Graduating "Class of 1961" from Berryville.

I am the second girl (with glasses) in the top row. Linda Bose is the first girl bottom row sitting next to Miss Paulson. 4th girl bottom row is Fran Justice. Karen Kuhar is next to her (I think), Ellen Langer is next, Nancy Piel, next and Kathryn Maegard is next to the teacher on the right.

I may be wrong in who's who. Next to me (Sandra Gascoigne) is Cindy Haebig, LuAnn Leonard (I think), Sharon ?; and the boys I remember are Bobby Appleby (top row left); Wesley Bose, 4th top; Larry Gillihan next; Ed Prasil on the right end of top row. Donnie Smith, Mike Baker, Wayne DiCastri, and that's about all I can recall.

Hope others can help identify everybody.

December 8, 2015 Message

I visited the Berryville School reunion web site.  1978-79 faculty picture with Mr. Olson as principal, included a picture of myself.  I am in the bottom row, far right.  I was a special education teacher, and this was my first teaching position, also teaching the year of 79-80, then transferring to Durkee Elem School for two years before leaving the Kenosha area.

Thanks for the pictures, good memories, still teaching all these years later in PA.

Mrs. Heide describes the aerial photograph, a gift from her husband.  The photograph shows Berryville School in 1980, the year the school was closed.  If you look close, the lawn shows the year 1980.  Mrs. Heide explains that all the school children came out to the lawn and stood to create the "1980" shape.

The original painting on the left showing a schoolhouse and children playing, hung in the Berryville School office for many years.  It was presented while Mr. Wind was the principal.  When Berryville School closed in 1980, the painting was given to the Wind family.  Recently, the Wind family gave Mrs. Heide the painting for safekeeping until an appropriate home was found.  At this reunion, Mrs. Heide announced that the new home of the painting would be at Hawthorn Hollow, a 40 acre non-profit nature sanctuary on Highway 31 in Somers Township.  Hawthorn Hollow currently has two historical schoolhouses and the old town hall for all to tour.

My name is Kifflie Scott. I went to Berryville School in the late 1960's and early 1970's. I was at the reunion today.
I saw that you have a photo of Mrs. June Ward's first grade class from 1967-68 on your site. I can identify some of those kids.
I (Kifflie Scott) am the blonde girl standing next to Mrs. Ward.
The boy standing on the other end is David Farley.
The blonde girl standing fourth from the left is Susan Sigwart.The blonde girl kneeling second from the left is Julie Misurelli.The brunette girl kneeling third from the left is Jackie Smith.
The girl kneeling fourth from the left is Ellen Duncan.
The girl kneeling second from the right -- I believe her first name was Jacqueline, but I don't remember her last name.
I believe the boy in the dark shirt seated third from the left is Larry Riedler (not 100% sure).
I believe the dark-haired girl seated all the way to right is Peggy Willems.
Some of those other faces are very familiar, but it's been a long time.

My name is Jan Clements Brewer. I attended the reunion on the 6th of Oct.. What a great time. It was a blast from the past. I can add the names of all the students in the 1961-1962, 7th grade photo.

Also, the photo that is the second from the bottom, the graduating class of 1963, it is listed that Margaret Poole and Betty Huffstuttler are deceased. They are both very much alive and well. We were misinformed on both of them. The only ones that are deceased are Fred Freerking and Henry Appleby.
